About AWPPW
The Association of Western Pulp and Paper Workers (AWPPW) was founded in 1964, during a time when workers demanded better representation, stronger protections, and a union accountable to its members. Born out of the principle of one member, one vote, AWPPW was built on democracy, transparency, and solidarity. Our Association headquarters, now located in Vancouver, Washington, continues to serve as the center of our fight for working people.
While our roots are in the pulp and paper industry, our mission has always been broader. We represent workers across manufacturing and stand ready to organize wherever a union is needed. Whether the fight is for fair wages, quality benefits, safe workplaces, or dignity on the job, AWPPW is committed to delivering real improvements for working families.
For more than half a century, AWPPW has faced industry shifts, plant closures, and economic challenges head-on. Through it all, our members have stood together, winning contracts and building stronger workplaces. We know progress is never given, it’s won through collective action.
Today, as industries continue to change with automation, globalization, and new workplace demands, AWPPW remains committed to fighting for family-wage jobs, workplace safety, and a secure future for working people.
If you are looking for a union that will stand with you, fight for you, and give you a real voice on the job, the AWPPW is ready. Together, we are stronger, and together, we can build better workplaces and better lives.
